Temps is a simple, free and open-source smart weather application, designed to stay on the desktop as a widget. It is cross-platform available for Linux, Windows and Mac. It is built using Electron, Menubar, Chart.js, and OpenWeatherMap technologies.
It does work with most of the desktops and lets you touch it visually. Basically it stays on the desktop as a widget and display current weather in any location around the world. It displays forecast for the following four days with current day.
Since this is a non-profit project, developer is not able to offer unlimited access to weather information that means you can signup to OpenWeatherMap API and create a free key for yourself.

Download zip file and extract it. Then use chmod +x Temps to make it executable from terminal and launch it ./Temps.

There are various weather applications available for Linux. Meteo-Qt is an elegant weather application written in Python3 and Qt5 licensed under GNU General Public License v3, it displays weather information right on the panel and show notifications, further more you can check current week weather on its own window.
It uses OpenWeatherMap service to display weather information, for that you need to create an account on OpenWeatherMap site and get a API key which is free to use. It can only display one place weather at a time, from preferences you can change language, unit, temperature accuracy, update interval, launch at startup, font size and color in tray, notifications, system tray icon, and configure proxy.

Simple Weather Indicator is simple and elegant indicator designed to get weather information right on the panel. It is developed using Python languages and uses an in-house open source weather API called Eris to get the current weather condition of the user's location.
It only can display weather of one location at a time but with very detailed information; like Rain, Humidity, Wind speed, Cloudiness, Weather pressure and Visibility. You can either let it detect your location automatically or you can set location manually by entering Latitude and Longitude of the location you want get weather information. As I tested the automatic location detection isn't very accurate, for better results manual method which I will show you how easy it is to get longitude and latitude.

It displays weather of location on panel, You can add up-to 2 locations in this indicator. It shows weather in complete details. There is forecast map option to choose location from map.

You can add up to two locations in this indicator, there are option for show temperature on panel and show notifications about weather. Also you can select "Auto location" for Main location, It will auto detect your current location.
There are three weather sources available: Yahoo, Open Weather Map and World Weather Online. You can choose whatever you want.
You change settings of temperature and details for weather.
In General Options you can select "Auto-start" option to start automatically at login. You can change weather refresh time from "Refresh Frequency" and You can choose light or dark icon for panel.
