Debian 8 Jessie just released few days back. We apologize for being late with this news, actually we are quite busy with a lot of stuff, but here is good news: we are also providing you ready-to-use virtual machine images for Debian 8 Jessie against VirtualBox and VMware. There is no doubt that Debian is BIG project, many popular distributions like 'Ubuntu' and others are based on Debian and it's being used in commercial areas, governments, and non-commercial areas. Debian is a free operating system, developed by thousands of volunteers from all over the world who collaborate via the Internet. The Debian project's key strengths are its volunteer base, its dedication to the Debian Social Contract and Free Software, and its commitment to provide the best operating system possible. Debian 8 is another important step in that direction.
What Debian 8 has brought with itself for us: "After almost 24 months of constant development the Debian project is proud to present its new stable version 8 (code name 'Jessie'), which will be supported for the next 5 years thanks to the combined work of the Debian Security team and of the Debian Long Term Support team. 'Jessie' ships with a new default init system, systemd. The systemd suite provides many exciting features such as faster boot times, cgroups for services, and the possibility of isolating part of the services. The sysvinit init system is still available in 'Jessie'.
The UEFI ('Unified Extensible Firmware Interface') support introduced in 'Wheezy' has also been greatly improved in Jessie. This includes workarounds for many known firmware bugs, support for UEFI on 32-bit systems, and support for 64-bit kernels with 32-bit UEFI firmware (with the latter being included only on our amd64/i386 "multi-arch" installation media). " Read complete release announcement of Jessie here.

Debian GNU/Linux 7.0, a new stable version of the world's largest Linux distribution, has been released: "After many months of constant development, the Debian project is proud to present its new stable version 7.0. This new version of Debian includes various interesting features such as multiarch support, several specific tools to deploy private clouds, an improved installer, and a complete set of multimedia codecs and front-ends which remove the need for third-party repositories.
Multiarch support, one of the main release goals for Wheezy, will allow Debian users to install packages from multiple architectures on the same machine. This means that you can now, for the first time, install both 32-bit and 64-bit software on the same machine and have all the relevant dependencies correctly resolved, automatically." LMDE 201204 with MATE and MintMenu

Clement Lefebvre has announced the release of Linux Mint 201204 "Debian" edition: "The team is proud to announce the release of LMDE 201204. This release features three of the best Linux desktops available at the moment: The traditional and functional MATE 1.2 desktop, the innovative and beautiful Cinnamon 1.4 and the lightweight and rock-solid Xfce 4.8. Both the MATE/Cinnamon and Xfce editions use the MDM display manager. MDM will look familiar to many people, as it brings back GDM 2.20 and all its features: Remote login, configuration tools, fast-user switching, theme-ability, language selection. Yahoo joins DuckDuckGo and is featured as default in the list of search engines which financially support Linux Mint." Here is the full release announcement with screenshots of the desktop options.
