MintX Colors icon suite is based on different icon themes(Faenza and Elementary), it offers 9 different color variants (Blue, Purple, Grey, Red, Green, Yellow, Orange, Green And Pink) with light/dark mono icons for panel which looks quite elegant with default Linux Mint theme. These icons also can work in other desktop environments are Unity, Mate, Gnome, Gnome Classic, and Xfce.
MintX Colors theme is a Gtk theme with 9 different colors, it also has Cinnamon version and it is under development. This theme is only available for Linux Mint 17 Qiana and won't work in Ubuntu 14.04/derivatives.
You can use Unity Tweak Tool, Gnome-tweak-tool or Ubuntu-Tweak to change themes/icons.
