Tomahawk is open-source and free a new kind of music player that brings all of your streams, downloads, cloud music storage, playlists, radio stations and friends to the same party. It is multi source audio player which not only plays your local collection, but it can also stream from different services using plugins from SoundCloud, Spotify, Beats, YouTube and many more. It also allows you to connect to your friends via GTalk/Jabber and share your playlist and collection, browse your friends playlist and play their libraries, stations, playlists or just listen along to whatever they are playing.
Stop chasing tracks across the web - to services you don't use, or sources you don't have access to. Given the name or link to a song, album or playlist, Tomahawk will find the best available source for you and just play it. Tomahawk is basically a music metadata player. At its core it decouples the metadata about a song from the source and reassembles it for each user based on their individual music accessibility and rights. If you are interested to contribute to this project then join the team, adding features, writing plug-ins or just contributing in general.
